This 500-metre structure comprises a historic arched bridge and various newer structures that cross the Moselle. The bridge is the oldest preserved bridge in the city of Koblenz and is part of the Upper Middle Rhine Valley World Cultural Heritage Site.

During renovation work, traffic was routed across the bridge in one lane. Pedestrians/cyclists were given a separate foot and cycle path during the construction period attached to the outside of the bridge.
